Warrior-LifeStyle.jpg

Maribel B, " I am a wife to my high school sweetheart and mother of two sons, advocate, creator and author of the blogs: Warrior LifeStyle and Maribel's Kidney Story. I started writing at a very young age. It was my outlet on how I processed through things. I would never know how much I would need it as a young adult dealing with kidney failure and chronic illness. As I began to share my “Life Saving” journey, I seen that this was not only helping me but others. I have a wide range of non-profit experience working with Sierra Donor services, Donate Life CA, and Parent Teacher Association. Each area of work I am a part of, has a deep and personal connection to me. It’s something I can give back because of my life experience. As a socially cautious consumer I like to promote companies that celebrate life, give inspiration, and are bringing awareness and change. Through storytelling, digital content, and using a community principal in helping others not fight alone but together." @warriorlife_style   @maribelskidneystory

msballerina.JPG

Gabby "MsBallerina" Perez.
Being the daughter of Sacramento's finest dance and fitness legend, role model & all around public figure, Pepper Von, was no different from being the president's daughter..(giggles). Growing up I didn't know which direction I was going. Being blessed with so many different talents and wanting to accomplish so many different things...all I knew was that I wanted to dance, share my heart with the world & stand for something. Seeing and experiencing many life altering things, meeting so many talented individuals and realizing I do not stand alone, has shaped me into the woman I am today. Hard working, single mother of 2, entrepreneur, God fearing woman. I took a stand to stop letting the world decide who I am & going to be...my God has that figured out already. It's up to me to allow him to lead me to my true self...and that is the path I am on today. I stand to inspire young woman to feel empowered over their lives...most importantly...I stand to make my daughters proud. @msballerina

luxeboutique.JPG

Misty Caluza, Owner of Luxe Boutique. "Shopping as a young adult who looked for unique pieces was a challenge. With not having much of the urban, trendiness that I craved in my local area, I often found myself traveling to destinations such as San Francisco, Berkeley & San Jose. While pregnant with my 2nd child, I had an opportunity to fulfill my dreams & opened a hip & modernized boutique that will give you a luxurious feel when walking thru the door. I offer affordable looks for the fashion-forward lady who loves upscale & the hottest "in thing" that will transition you from fitting in, to stand out & adding a different flavor by providing custom gold grills targeting not just men, but women. My passion comes from when a young lady or women try on an item & falls in love and/or when popping in that gold grill, seeing that smile from ear to ear. We as Woman are a force to be reckoned with; coming together as One force, Women can rule the world. " @luxeboutique916

frances wang.jpg

Frances Wang is a Sacramento-raised journalist who has dreamed of being one since she was a kid, after being interview by Walt Gray (who is now her colleague!). Her mother once owned a kiosk at Arden Fair Mall right next to the KCRA3 studio in the early 2000s…Frances was always sticking her face in the glass window, trying to get a closer look at the newscasts.

She has always been the most talkative of her peers, so her former teachers and classmates also aren’t surprised she went into broadcasting.

After graduating from St. Francis High School here in Sacramento, she went on to become a Trojan at the University of Southern California. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors. During her time there, she also earned a second Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Frances has also worked for KREM 2 in Spokane, Washington, KABC in Los Angeles, CNN, and E! News. Before diving into the news business, Frances dabbled a bit in PR herself, interning for Rogers & Cowan in Los Angeles.

Frances' favorite part of her job now is getting to know people she may not have met otherwise. She loves to tell stories about the amazing things people do for their communities.

In her free time, you can find her catching up on shows, trying out new restaurants, and struggling to get to the gym.

Frances will be emceeing for Empower Her on May 20th and gracing us with her positive energy.

You can connect with Frances on all social media platforms at @franceswangtv.

thegoodrub__The Good Rub 2x2.jpg

Rebecca Holley, founder of The Good Rub, "I grew up in the small town of Truckee where I learned the most important thing I have learned in life thus far, resourcefulness. In 2008, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and some other lovely conditions that were sides to the entree. Within a year, I was losing my hair, taking 3 high blood pressure medications, 8 pain pills a day, 8 muscle relaxers a day and a few nerve medications. Then I was introduced to cannabis as a medicine and it literally saved my life. I couldn’t ignore the efficacy, so I decided to start making my own plant-infused body oils giving me the ability to medicate at my corporate job without losing focus. I started my first company, Therapy in a Bottle, in 2010 where I focused on cannabis and hemp. In 2015, I was really seeing the need for plant-based, alternative inflammatory relief options in the mainstream market and I wanted to be able to offer that to people everywhere, not just cannabis patients, and that is when The Good Rub was born. We specialize in botanically infused, functional bath and body care products with a focus in creating formulas designed to help someone manage inflammatory response. I believe that we have access to tools that can help us to be the best and healthiest we can be. I am blessed to have been resourceful and desperate enough to create many of my own tools and now I want to share them and other tools and practices I have found with those who are seeking alternative options. Now pharma-free, I refuse to let my invisible illness define me or stop me from helping others." @thegoodrub

MM Logo 2.16.18.png

MINDY GEORGE, owner or Mindy's Mod Nail Spa, Licensed Nail Technician, Specializing in nail treatments and self-care. Mindy was born in San Antonio, Texas. In all of her professional roles, she always seemed to be a healer, meaning she triggers within you, your own ability to heal yourself and improve your lifestyle. She spent over 7 years working in the salon and service industry where she fostered her natural ability to connect with her clients and found that they easily opened up to her. Mindy moved into the insurance industry where she spent another 7 years coaching and developing individual improvement plans and group curriculum based on employee strengths and areas of improvement. After her work there, she knew she wanted to do personal development full-time and make a career out of helping people identify their self-worth and become an expert of their own lives.

Being a previous nail tech, she noticed the damage to her nails and skin, and hearing countless complaints from women about their nail health from using chemical laden spa products, polishes, and enhancements, such as acrylics and gels. When she relocated to California, she decided to expand her brand and open Maven Mindy’s Mod Nail Spa introducing self-care and corrective nail treatments into the industry using the safest, non-toxic, medical grade products on the market and showing clients they CAN heal their damaged nails with the proper treatment formula.

She recently introduced an affordable, private label, Jojoba Spa Product line. It is all natural, vegan, and cruelty free like all the products she uses for in house pamper sessions and for clients to use at home for maintenance.  A rule she shares and lives by, real healing takes place in and outside of the spa.

Mindy and her family moved to Elk Grove, California from Atlanta, Georgia in 2016 and is already an active member of the community. She loves to sing, dance, write, record music, try new cuisines, serve her community, give tons of heartfelt hugs, and lots of laughter!

For more information on services please visit www.mavenindy.com/booking.

Mindy is also a contributing author on Free & Fearless, a book on success stories that inspire you to follow your dreams and ignite your entrepreneurial spirit! @mavenmindy

haku and wine.jpg

Maria Estrada, owner of Haku and Wine. Married to Rhoderick Estrada silent partner extraordinaire. "I just wanted to let you know a little about Haku and Wine and my inspiration and motivation for becoming my own boss.  After 15 years in the fashion retail industry, leading in sales for just as long, that chapter of my life was abruptly closed. Instead of heading right back into the grind, I decided to take some time to regroup, reflect and revitalize. I decided to head back to my hometown of Waipahu, on the beautiful island of Oahu. As I reconnected with many family and friends, I hadn’t seen for years, the long ago dream of being my own boss began percolating in my mind. I wanted to take the knowledge I had gained and use it in my next venture.  Being in the fashion industry, I’ve always strived to have my clients leave my store feeling confident and beautiful. And surrounded by the tropical wonder of my father’s garden, everything clicked into place. What better way to enhance the beauty of my clients then with a Haku Lei “crown” made of gorgeous flowers.  We all deserve to look and feel like queens, and a Haku Lei does exactly that, no matter what occasion or event. I soaked up all I could from my family and friends who were familiar with the process of creating a Haku Lei and spent hours and hours learning about flowers and plants.

And then I began creating. And as I created unique Haku Leis for clients, I became more and more inspired, and I knew that this was what I wanted to do. During these past months, I’ve connected and collaborated with other entrepreneurs, and I’ve learned that as a small business owner, we need to come together and support each other so that we may all succeed and flourish.

The stories I’ve learned from each Haku Lei created has left its mark. And I wanted to thank all my clients past, present and future and to everyone who has supported my dream. Even more wonderful things are in store. " @haku_and_wine

terridoesdesserts.jpg

Terri, owner of Terri Does Desserts. "As a child, I loved German Chocolate cake. My mother used to make cakes for us all the time. I always wanted German Chocolate cake. I guess she got tired of me bugging her all the time so she began teaching me how to bake. This was the beginning of my love of baking.

Over the years, I baked cookies and cakes for friends and family. One of my friends suggested that I start selling my baked goods. I started creating cookie baskets to sell to make extra money for Christmas. I began getting requests for cookie baskets for other holidays. When Thanksgiving came around, the requests turned to cakes. My number one request was German Chocolate cake.

Since then, I have added many more desserts to my collection. People ask what dessert is most popular. It changes from month to month so it's hard to say.  Everyone has a favorite (or two) but German Chocolate is always number 1! I have been so very blessed that my passion for baking makes so many people happy." @terridoesdesserts
